Ben's Bells is an organization that is focused on spreading care and compassion to those throughout America and specifically in the Tucson area. According to the Arizona Star, Ben's Bells is an organization that starts by making bells for those who have been kind towards others. The volunteers at Ben's Bells craft these bells and then hand them out to those who have done kindness towards others and deserve to be recognized.
The Arizona Star says that the organization has been active for the past 10 years and there are chimes crafted at the organization all throughout the United States including in places where tragedy has struck, Most recently, the chimes were hung in Newtown, Connecticut after the shooting, but they have also been hung in New York City, New Orleans, Mexico, and more.
The Ben's Bells project is more than just bells; it is a program that encourages kindness all throughout the United States through a Be Kind, Step Up program. Several thousand students in Tucson and other Arizona towns have become a part of the Ben's Bells Kind Kids and Kind Campus programs which encourage children to be kind and to acknowledge acts of generosity and kindness in others. Schools using the program claim to have noticed a significant difference in the way that their children operate and have been able to show others how to be joyful and giving.
Ben's Bells was created by a mother after her 3-year-old son with a sense of humor and a knack for carrying conversation died of croup. The Ben's Bells organization is a legacy dedicated to her son and the mothers says that it was inspired by the kindness that she was shown while she was grieving for her son. Now, Attorney Dev Sethi from Kinerk, Schmidt, & Sethi has joined the Ben's Bells board in order to help inspire kindness in others and give back to this community.
