'For the first time the FDA has exercised its expanded recall authority granted under the 2011 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, releasing a mandatory recall order for any Triangle Pharmanaturals LLC product containing the herbal supplement kratom. Kratom—a plant that grows in eastern Asia—previously raised concerns about  its opioid-like effects on people. The Triangle kratom products from different locations tested positive for salmonella contamination. The company's refusal to comply with the voluntary recall issued by the FDA prompted the mandatory recall.'
